Iwate Prefectural Citizens’ Forest (Forest-i)

The Iwate Prefectural Citizens’ Forest is a large forest park situated near the base of Mt. Iwate, containing the “Minna-no-Hiroba” and “Miharashi Hiroba” picnic grounds, as well as three sets of park trails spanning 1.4km, 1.6km, and 2.8km, respectively.

Situated just next to it is the Forestry Museum, or “Forest-i,” where you’ll be greeted immediately by huge tree exhibits and large collections of information related to the forest. People of all ages can enjoy themselves while learning more about forestry! The “Secret Treehouse” made from local lumber provides endless entertainment for children, while the “Crafts Corner” hosts wood-burning and woodworking workshops that everyone can enjoy.

Not to mention, there are activities held year-round to experience the flora and fauna of each season, from guided strolls down to Nanataki Falls, to the “Mushroom Classroom.”
