Tohoku Expressway Mt. Iwate Service Area (Southbound)
The Mt. Iwate Service area is aptly named, with grand views of Mt. Iwate and Mt. Hachimantai. Visit and enjoy beautiful scenery that changes seamlessly with the season.
It’s stocked with restaurants that use delicious grass-fed Iwate beef in their more popular menu options, as well as a bakery selling many different flavors of bread.
These include crunchy on the outside and soft inside “Iwate Melon Bread,” and sweet “Red Bean Butter Bread,” both are made in the image of Mt. Iwate!
It’s open 24 hours a day, and notably, also has a walkway entrance that allows pedestrians to access it from the lower roads.
