Take a bus through Iwate, and experience Hachimantai A trekking trip to the summit just for you

Hachimantai summit area map

In spring, the sakura blossoms and the snow corridor towers over roads. In summer, the mysterious Hachimantai Dragon Eye forms under a gorgeous blue sky, nestled among thick alpine vegetation. In autumn, such foliage takes on a deep spectrum of fall colors.
And through it all, season by season, an unforgettable wind blows.
This is trekking around Mt. Hachimantai and Mt. Iwate.

Two new bus routes will be operating from Spring through to Autumn: one between the Hachimantai Onsenkyo area and the Mt. Hachimantai Summit, and one that will bring visitors all the way from Morioka to the summit. With access to famous and hidden springs along the way, why not give this rejuvenating journey a try?

※The Hachimantai Shizensansaku Bus (Hachimantai Nature Exploration Bus) is separated into “Spring” and “Summer & Autumn” operations. Timetables and routes will differ between the two.
※Trail guides typically cost extra, but they are available at no additional cost when you take the Hachimantai Nature Trail Bus.
※The standard commuter bus bound for Mt. Hachimantai Summit operates on the same seasonal schedule as as the “Summer & Autumn” Hachimantai Shizensansaku Bus (Hachimantai Nature Exploration Bus), from early June to mid-October.
※The standard commuter bus bound for Mt. Hachimantai Summit does not operate during the season the “Spring” Hachimantai Shizensansaku Bus (Hachimantai Nature Exploration Bus) is in operation.
