Ihatov Volcano Center

Hachimantai benefits greatly from the grandeur of Mt. Iwate, but it’s easy to forget that it’s still an active volcano!
The Ihatov Volcano Center is the place to go for all things volcanic.
You can learn about Mt. Iwate’s volcanic history, as well as its status right now (including with live video feeds), and what to do in the event of an eruption.
