Kyounso

This hidden hot spring is famous even in Hachimantai for how much snowfall it gets. In the inn itself, the geothermal heating system keeps it nice and warm. From the warmth of the rooms, looking out at the deep powdery snow and huge icicles outside the windows puts you into a timeless state of relaxation. The view from the windows of the well-designed rooms allows you to feel the changing of the seasons of the mountains in Hachimantai, and is especially popular during the autumn when the leaves change color.

The meals for guests are prepared with lots of local ingredients, including Hachimantai salmon and other local fish. There is also a kitchen available for guest use, which is a local tradition among rustic inns. Long term guests can cook for themselves! (*Please inquire in advance regarding usage of the kitchen for guests. You’ll need to bring your own ingredients to cook with.)
